Welcome to the site for the only official Little League program in Antioch California
The Little League Baseball and Softball Programs offer you both a Non-Competitive and Competitive environment to learn the game, have fun, play on teams based upon skill and age, and have the opportunity to play in the Little League All-Star post season International tournament.
Little League Baseball has been played in the city of Antioch for 50 years. During those years many players started at the Little League level and have advanced up the baseball path and played on many High School, College and Professional Teams. But Little League is more then a competitive baseball and softball program.
Starting at Age 5 your son or daughter is taught the FUNdamental basics of the game and to have fun playing the game. This is a non-competitive enviornment where scores are not kept and the emphasis is on learning and enjoyment of the game. Players can hit either off a Tee or off a coach pitching to them
From the Ages of 6-8 the kids move up the non-competitive ladder where the emphasis on fundamentals and teamwork take shape. The farm divisions of baseball and softball marks a big change in their development. Learning how to catch, throw and hit are emphasized to better their skills and make them a better ballplayer. Pitching is coach pitch in softball and baseball.
The Competitive realm of baseball and softball begins at ages 8 and above. Players are no longer placed on a team but selected to a team based upon their age and playing ability. In our Minor Division players learn the more intricate parts of the game, learn that you are a winner, even if your team loses the game, and face live pitching. Players starting at age 9 are also eligible for the International ALL-STAR Tournament.
Beginning at the age of 9 in Softball and age 10 in Baseball the players are now eligible for our Majors Divisions. In our Majors Division players are tought the finer parts of the game and how to work together. Little League is affiliated with the Positive Coaching Alliance to promote the double goal of striving to win the game while achieving the second, more important goal of using sports to learn life lessons. Teamwork and Individual Skill are emphasized. While not every player will have the talent or desire to move up the ladder and advance to Babe Ruth, High School, College or the Pros, our programs will give those players that want to move on the skills they need to succeed at the higher levels and it will give those players that don’t want to move on a fun recreational activity.
Positive coaching and an extensive safety program is administerd by the league and its coaches. All players do play at least half the game in our competitive and all game in our non-competitive divisions. All 12 year olds now play in our major divisions.
